The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) encourages students to pursue studies in the sciences and mathematics through the scholarship program. Applications for 2013-2014 academic year scholarships are due February 22, 2013. Instructions on how to apply are listed on this page. Please use the online application forms below to apply for NSM scholarships. The application period opens each year on November 1. Applicants are considered for all NSM scholarships for which they may be qualified. NSM Alumni Association (NSMAA) also has scholarships available; more information on those scholarships and how to apply can be found on the NSMAA Scholarships page. The deadline for NSMAA scholarships is March 15, 2013. Additional scholarship/funding opportunities may be available at the departmental level. Graduate student fellowship opportunities are listed on the Graduate Scholarships page. NSM has several scholarships available for incoming students and continuing undergraduate and graduate students. You only need to apply once each year to be considered for all NSM scholarships for which you qualify. Scholarship awards are contingent on availability of funds. List of scholarships. Recipients of any of these scholarships may apply for (and accept) other scholarships, grants, or awards for which the recipients are eligible. However, if a recipient applies for financial aid, these awards may be used in calculating the eligibility level of the recipient’s financial aid. Applications must be received by the close of the business day (5 p.m.) on Friday, February 22, 2013. The college will accept scholarship applications for the 2013-2014 academic year beginning November 1, 2012. The scholarship committee meets regularly, beginning late in the fall semester, to consider completed applications on a continuing basis. You are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as scholarship awards are contingent on availability of funds. Scholarship recipients will be notified when a scholarship is awarded or by late May or early June 2013 at the latest. Made in two equal increments (fall ’13 and spring ’14) directly into the recipient's student account upon verification of enrollment, major, and minimum qualification requirements. Failure of the recipient to register for classes (at least 12 semester credit hours for undergraduates and nine semester credit hours for graduate students) by the published UH late registration deadline will constitute an automatic forfeiture of the scholarship.
