Alex Freundlich, research professor of physics and a TcSAM project leader, has been appointed as a member of the International Scientific Council of the magazine Veille Telecom, of the Senegalese Agency for Telecommunications Regulations. Its objective is to promote Novel Information and Communication Technologies (NICTs) and propose solutions to problems in the field of NICTs in Africa.

Professor Freundlich was invited to give a presentation on "Photovoltaics: An Answer to the Energy-Telecommunications Dilemma of Rural Africa" on the theme of “Telecommunications as Development Infrastructures: African Perspectives" at the inaugural international scientific meeting held during the 3rd Annual Conference of West African Telecom Regulators in Dakar on April 12, 2005.
