Spring Graduation

New Traditions

Each May, graduation events at the University of Houston consist of two coordinated ceremonies: University Commencement, held at TDECU Stadium, and the College Convocations, held at locations around campus.

University Commencement on Saturday, May 14, is the formal university-wide celebration with all of the colleges where the students’ degrees will be conferred by President Renu Khator. The ceremony features a processional of graduates and faculty, remarks from the President, and keynote speaker retired astronaut Capt. Scott Kelly, who returned from the International Space Station in March 2016. Kelly set an American spaceflight record by spending 340 consecutive days in space.

The NSM Convocation on Wednesday, May 11, will individually recognize students by name as they walk across the stage.
